Tom has a Master’s Degree in Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and is an accredited BAS Agent by the Tax Practitioners Board. Tom has 20 years’ experience working as a corporate accountant and has managed accounts departments and payroll. We use Xero and MYOB.

Initially we charge per hour. This is to get an understanding of your business and your specific needs. It also gives you a chance to evaluate our services and give us feedback on the job performed. We can then discuss a pricing model that suits your needs.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Orion Bookkeeping customers?

We offer Orion Bookkeeping customers a free consultation to make sure your bookkeeping needs are met. We then offer the opportunity of an hourly rate or for value pricing. Value pricing is done before performing the service and priced based on your perceived value. The advantages with value pricing are: * Removes the constraint of time on profits * Incentivises all to improve efficiency and productivity * No surprises for you, the client * Eliminates the friction to collaborate.


How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

A customer can save money by having their invoices and other paperwork organised and easily accessible. It is also helpful to print bank statements before a visit. A customer should prepare questions before a visit to speed up the visit. All these tips will save time and money for the business.


What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

The size of the company and an estimate of the quantity of invoices. Also how many employees the business employs. What needs to be done; Bookkeeping only or also BAS returns and payroll?


Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

Orion Bookkeeping Pty Ltd has a Professional Indemnity Insurance. That is a requirement for registration as BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board.

They should ask for qualifications and experience. These two factors are of paramount importance to making sure a customer get a qualified bookkeeper. Pricing is of course important but not the most important factor when hiring a bookkeeper.

Meeting dedicated business owners and being able to help them focusing on their business. They are best at running their business and should let a professional bookkeeper take care of their books.


How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My qualifications and long varied experience in the field made my decision easy. I have the knowledge and passion and wanted to run my own business in a field I feel very confident in.
